Below is an example of a shore profile showing where the organisms are found... but it's not our part of NZ
Where do things live?
Anywhere they can.... TOLERATE HARDSHIPS (dry, food, waves, predators, space, etc)
and.... USE RESOURCES (find food- hunt, filter from the sea, graze (lick) rocks, or eat seaweed

Kahoot on shore zonation... needs the rocky shore guide (Web version below or cards from me)
Cable Bay shore
Produce a profile showing the shore and distribution of organisms at Cable Bay
Once you know WHERE the organisms are found you can then do some research (Life in the Estuary- book, &/or internet) and explain WHY they are found where they are. To explain the "why", find out things like: how they feed, how do they survive the tide going out, how they avoid being eaten - and relate that to where they are found (and where they are not found)
You should do this for: half crabs, kina, oyster borers and at least 2 more of your choosing
Your report should include the shore profile you produced and an explanation of where at least 5 of the creatures are found
Write a brief explanation of the differences we find between Monaco and Cable Bay
The photos from our trip (to help draw the shore slope etc) are on the "trips page" here
The data
And the critters
And example of what it should look like here

Monaco shore
Your task is to produce something similar to what we did for cable Bay- to describe and explain the distribution of organisms on the stoney part of the shore at Monaco
Once you know WHERE the organisms are found you can then do some research (Life in the Estuary- book, &/or internet) and explain WHY they are found where they are. To explain the "why", find out things like: how they feed, how do they survive the tide going out, how they avoid being eaten - and relate that to where they are found (and where they are not found)
You should do this for at least five species
